Installation

Download and install the last version of SlonAx 3G installation file. The installation process is a standard one and will not cause you any hardships.

Initial start-up

Virtual network adapter TUN/TAP must be present in the system for the successful work of the SlonAx 3G accelerator, in case the adapter is not discovered during the installation process, SlonAx 3G will propose to install it (see the left-side window "TAP adapter install"). There are adapter drivers in the distributive of the SlonAx 3G accelerator, so there is no need to download and install them separately. Press button Yes to start the driver installation:

Driver installation process

The black window will appear while installing the TUN/TAP adapter driver.

!! ATTENTION !! "TUN/TAP driver digital signature missing" warning message might appear on Windows Vista and/or Windows Seven. You should ignore the warning message and continue the installation by pushing the button "Continue Anyway".

In case of successful installation "TAP driver successfully installed" window will appear. Let’s hope that the driver is successfully installed. Now let us proceed with the SlonAx 3G basic configuration.

Initial Configuration

The most interesting thing in the initial configuration is that it is, as a rule, a final one. The form of the initial configuration is shown on the picture to the left. Here you can see all the fields mandatory for filling in order to start the work of SlonAx 3G. Let us consider them in more detail.

Address and Port are the address and the port of the corresponding SlonAx 3G server. Please do not fill in these fields in case there are no additional instructions in the SatGate information letter. Please note that in case you set the above parameters incorrectly SlonAx 3G will not establish a connection with the server.

Server address: sx3g.satgate.net, port: 1122.

Login and Password are login and password which you have received while registering the SatGate account. Please confirm them in the letter which you have received from SatGate after the registration; same combination of login and password should be valid for personal account access located under the URL: https://members.satgate.ru/. Do not be mistaken in the spelling.

Output Internet connection bandwidth — is a very important parameter, if stated incorrectly, all positive effect from the use SlonAx accelerator can come to nothing.

SlonAx should have the speed of your request link for optimal operation. The more precisely it will be indicated, the better SlonAx will work. First of all let us state that 1 KILOBIT is a measure of speed accepted in SlonAx 3G (same as kilobit per second, kbps and kbit/s). Thus the request link speed in kilobits should be indicated in the Transport group. There are 2 ways to set the request link speed:

  • Manually: if you know the exact maximum bit rate please indicate it in kilobits.
  • Automatically: please select the type of your request link from the falling-out list. After done, the corresponding speed limit will be selected in the field.
Press Ok button to save the parameters.

Beginning of the usage

After the initial configuration you should be able to see this window (see the screenshot to the right). This is the main window of the accelerator. Here you can change your login and/or password and to connect to the server finally. Press the button "Connect" to start connecting to the server:

After pressing the “Connect” button you will see the process of connecting with the server:

The requirements for successful SlonAx 3eG server connection are stated below:

  • SlonAx 3G must be installed under the Administrator rights;
  • - SlonAx 3G must not be blocked by a firewall (it is recommended that the accelerator is added to the avoid list of the firewall;
  • It is important that correct DVB parameters are set (frequency, Symbol of rate, PID and MAC).

If all parameters are set correctly you should have a 95% guarantee for successful server connection.

Possible errors while connecting:

  • Can't of open TAP adapter — SlonAx 3G was not able to open and configure the TUN/TAP adapter. Please verify if it is not deactivated (control panel -> network connections -> select TAP adapter (by the right button of a mouse) -> activate).
  • Invalid login/password — please compare the current SlonAx 3G login and password with those received by e-mail after registration.
  • Wrong connection type — please set “SlonAx” connection type in the personal account settings.
  • Doesn't have enough money on account — need to deposit money to the account.
  • Negotiation: Fail. Please check your network hardware and firewall settings and restart SlonAx. — SlonAx 3G could not establish a “handshake” with the server. As a rule this error is a result of failing to fulfill one of the three requirements described above (administrator rights, Firewall, DVB hardware configuration).

If the connection is established successfully you will see the line “SlonAx 3G Connected”. Now you are ready for work. And if everything is set correctly your browser should start opening web pages, your Download Master should start downloading data files, your Internet messenger should start sending/receiving messages, in other words, you should have Internet now.

Attention! If you used to work with other accelerators before, it is necessary that you remove all proxy server settings from the all the applications since proxy settings are not required for Internet access through SlonAx 3G.

Statistics Window

The stats window reflects a quantity of obtained and sent packets and bytes.

TX — outgoing traffic (Transferred).
RX — incoming traffic (Received).

Loss — quantity of lost packets. Losses up to 10-15 percent of the total number of packets are not critical. Any larger percentage of lost packets might negatively influence the quality of connection performance.

Incoming link losses (RX Loss) — the reason for the incoming link losses in satellite Internet connection might be a poorly tuned antenna, excessive cable length from the antenna to the receiver or of the interference caused by a cellular phone. Not enough computer power also can be a reason for the packet loss.

Request link losses (TX Loss) — as a rule it is seen when sending a large volume of data to the Internet (for example, while sending an e-mail). Basic reason – bit rate of the outgoing link is set incorrectly. Unfortunately, here it is hard to give a universal advice, but it is sometimes necessary to pick the value of the outgoing speed by the trial-and-error method. It is not recommended to set a very low bit rate (below 9 kbit/s).

"Disconnect" button serves for the SlonAx 3G disconnection from the server.
