Sirius-2 (Nordic Beam) Coverage Map

By the launch time 12 of November 1997 Sirius-2 was the biggest satellite ever built in Europe. It was launched using Ariane 4 carrier rocket. Estimated lifetime of Sirius-2 is 12 years (End of 2009).  Nordic Satellite AB is the owner of the satellite. Unlimited services with guaranteed bandwidth are available from the Nordic beam of the satellite. Data transfer is being carried out using BSS transponders allowing adjust a signal level depending on weather conditions over the Teleport.

Nordic beam has a very strong signal in the first receive zone which makes possible to receive the service using satellite dish with the diameter less than 60 cm. Data transfer is being done in Ku-Band (14,0-14,25GHz) with high sensitivity (Over 9dB/K in the center of the footprint). The satellite is built by French Aerospatiale (today it’s called Alcatel) in Cannes.
